Bit of a Turn – Earth is our Address

Cheryl Cholley’s Travel Blog

Life is beginning to take a bit of a turn recently, and progress on Survivalist by Circumstance is a little slow. This is because of an ear infection that eventually turned into a sinus infection and nearly put me in the hospital. I have resumed writing Episode 14 and hope to have it in print by mid-October.

Due to the possibility of further disruptions in the American economy, my husband and I have decided to do some traveling. During our travels, we will be on the lookout for the perfect bug-out location outside the U.S. To help fund our travels, I will be blogging about the places we visit. You can visit my travel blog and sign up for my newsletter as well. Click here to read read more.

I won’t find me spamming you with a bunch of offers for other products I want you to buy, or information about how to make money online.  You’ll get the facts, ma’am, only the facts!  So just take a look on the upper right section of my blog, right at the top of the sidebar and you’ll find a quick, painless form you can use to add yourself to my list.  And…thanks :)

Self Sufficiency is a Way of Life for the Survivalist

Hi All,

It has been a long and hot summer and it’s even more so here in the Sonoran Desert.  Survivalist by Circumstance – Volume Thirteen should be available near the end of the week.  I apologize for the delay, but it’s taking me longer than expected to get this Episode written.

Here’s a little something to keep you entertained while you wait, however.  I hope you like it.  This is my first attempt at creating a video, so have patience.

This will give you an idea where I’m coming from. I feel that self-sufficiency is very important for a survivalist and I try to do as much of that as I can. Take a look and hopefully, enjoy!

Update on the Survivalist Series

Hi Everybody,

I wanted to take a moment to keep you informed on what’s happening with the series.  I’ve mentioned once or twice that I plan to take some time off from Survivalist by Circumstance to work on a new novel.  I am doing that right now, and as a result, it will be about a month before Episode Thirteen will be published.

A future world.

A village in the future where the new novel will be set.

I appreciate all of your emails and questions regarding the series because it keeps me aware of your continued interest.  Lately I’ve been a little concerned because Survivalist by Circumstance – Volume Twelve has only two reviews as of today.  Also, Survivalist by Circumstance – Novel Two has not had one single review so far.

I know most of you are reading the series one Episode at a time, but  you could still go on Amazon and post a review for the Novel because it’s exactly the same as the separate Episodes.  This is a huge issue to me because if that Novel doesn’t get reviews, the sales will continue to slump miserably.

Now, the next point I wanted to mention is the new book I’m writing.  It’s still in the early stages, but I want everyone to start getting excited now.  The reason, this book will be a huge step up for me.  I’ve worked hard with my writing skills and have even hired a writing coach to guide me in the development of this new novel.

Right now, it’s shaping up to be one absolutely killer story.  It won’t be the same as my first two attempts.  Target Earth and Survivalist by Circumstance are both set in the current time.  This new book will take place hundreds of years after the collapse.  And it’s not just a utopian world here, this book will have excitement, danger, suspense, and all the heart-stopping action  you expect from a top novelist.

Sure, you’re my fans and you like my stories, but imagine breathtaking chase scenes and evil villains all wrapped up in a future dystopian world.  So have patience with me as I work toward that end.

Survivalist by Circumstance is not over, it’s just on hold for a little while, so keep in touch.

Novel Number Two is Available Now

Hello everyone,

I have good news today.  I know many of you have been chomping at the bit to get your hands on Survivalist by Circumstance – Novel Two.  Today, it is available for download on Kindle.  This book is the compilation of Episodes Eight through Twelve and is packed with action and great information.

When I was writing the Episodes for this Novel, I decided I wanted to invest in a professionally made cover for the book.  I contracted Robin Ludwig at DeviantART.  She has a website at GoBookCoverDesign but the above link is her gallery of book covers.  I wanted to show you some of her work so you can see why I chose her to do my book cover.

Survivalist Novel Two

Robin’s work is exceptional, and she is a true professional as well.   She’s dependable and can be trusted to do exactly what you want for your book cover.  I’m terribly excited to have her work to showcase my Novel.

Now, for Novel Two itself, if you haven’t been following along with each Episode, you’re going to love this book.  You will even if you have been reading the Episodes, but I’m just saying.

The action is heating up, and the economy is winding down.  If you remember, in the last Episode of Novel One, Darrell had been shot.  I bet most of you were cussing me when I left you hanging there at that point and I don’t blame you.  But now you can find out what happened and where that little event leads.

There’s a whole lot going on in this book and I know you’re dying to read it.  But do me a favor, ok?  I need a big showing on the Reviews in Amazon so others will want to give it a shot.  You know there are a lot of people out there that haven’t read this story and I know they’ll love it.  Just hop on over to Amazon and leave a review so people will know how good it is.

I’m hoping you’ll also take the time to leave a quick comment here, or on my Facebook Fan Page to tell me what you think.  I love reading your reviews and your comments.  There are quite a few people who have left comments with ideas for things that might happen, and lo and behold that’s exactly what happened in upcoming Episodes.

Some were things I had already planned, but others were ideas that I thought were too good to pass up.  One person had a character named after his grandson.

Another left reviews telling me it was time for Darrell to “cowboy up.”  Well, sure enough, Darrell got some gumption and learned a few things from that little comment.  I won’t tell you if I had planned it that way or not :)

So get on over to Amazon and get your copy, then talk it up.  I’m waiting…

Announcing! Episode Twelve Now Live!

I’m thrilled to announce that today Survivalist by Circumstance – Volume Twelve is now live.  I’ve been anxious to get this one out the door because with it, the Episodes for Novel Two are now complete.

Survivalist by Circumstance - Volume Twelve

Cover for Survivalist by Circumstance – Volume Twelve

First, about Episode Twelve.  This Episode is filled with relationships and prepping.  Our good friend U-Turn, who arrived with the group of bikers in our last Episode, has found a new friend.  This is a great human-interest story for all you fans who like to know about the love life of our characters.

The group of teens are learning new skills and becoming ever better at what they do, but that’s not all that’s happening with the younger set.  Read Episode Twelve to find out what new relationships are forming between members of this group.

And while there’s not a lot of shoot-em-up stuff in this Episode, we’re heading into a new phase in the lives of the residents at Tranquility Ranch.  Rick isn’t sure how long the ranch will remain Tranquil, and he’s not willing to bank on remaining safe inside the fence.

And finally, read all the way to the end of this Episode and see if you can determine exactly what the guys in green are doing when they arrive at the gates.  Are they friend or foe?

And in other news…

And, even bigger news is on the way.  Now that Episode Twelve is complete, prepare yourself for the publication of Survivalist by Circumstance – Novel Two.  This novel will contain exactly the same information as Episodes Eight through Twelve, but it will be in a single volume.

Some of you may be interested in getting the Novel to add to your collection, but it’s mostly for those that have waited patiently for it to reach publication.  This is the book you want to gift to friends and family that you’ve been trying to get to read this series.

You may also wish to purchase the paperback version.  Just watch this site for information on when both will be released.

Interview With Sean – Continued…

Here’s the second part of the interview with Sean Walker.  Read, and enjoy.  I’m sure it will give you some insight into some of the characters in our story.Survivalist 11 Cover

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I have with me here today Sean Walker.  Sean plays a character in the Survivalist by Circumstance series.  Beginning in Episode Nine, Sean is an ongoing player in this story.   This interview is a continuation of the interview we posted on March 25 of this year.

Interviewer:  Good afternoon, Sean.  Thank you for taking the time to visit with us again today.

Sean:  Good to see you again.

Interviewer:  So Sean, now that a few more Episodes have been published, we can continue with our interview without giving any spoilers for the series.  So, if I remember correctly, you were telling us about what happened after your parents were killed.  You mentioned that you spent a lot of time partying with Rick.

Sean:  Yeah, Rick and I became very close during that time.  We partied a lot and I basically spent more time with Rick than I did with my own family.

Interviewer:  So were you still living in your family home after your parents passed on?

Sean:  Yeah, I inherited the house and everything else, so I was set up and didn’t need to worry about what to do with my life.

Interviewer:  And how was your relationship with Mila and Dylan then?

Sean:  Pretty much the same as it had been.  Mila worked, Dylan went to school, and I partied with Rick.

Interviewer:  Well, how did Mila and Rick get along?

Sean:  If you want to know the truth, Mila and Rick never met.  I would leave to go out drinking with Rick, and come home that night or sometimes the next morning, but they never actually were in the same room together.

Interviewer:  Don’t you find that a little hard to believe?  That two people who were the most important in your life could never actually meet?

Sean:  Now that I look back on it, I wonder myself how that happened.  But it did, and that’s another thing I wish could have been different.  If I had included Mila in more of my life, we might not have had the problems we had.

Interviewer:  Let’s move on to your time in the service.  How did you end up going in the service if you were such close friends with Rick?

Sean:  That’s another story, and it’s not easy to tell.  You already know from reading the series that Rick was shot in a barfight, right?  Well after he was shot I stayed at his side for quite a long time.

Interviewer:  You said Rick was in the hospital for a while, and then it took him a long time to recover, right?  So when did you go in the service?

Sean:  After Rick got out of the hospital, I took really good care of him.  Then the biker gang started coming around and they took over a lot of the care I had been giving.  After that, our friendship just wasn’t quite the same.

Interviewer:  You mean it wasn’t just the two of you any more, right?

Sean:  Well, I didn’t realize it at the time, but I suppose I was a little jealous.  Rick started to…well…wake up and take notice of the world around him.  He had new friends, and as he healed he seemed to want to be friends with all of them and we just weren’t as close any more.

Interviewer:  So what did you do?

Sean:  I stayed around, because I thought they’d eventually tire of caring for the invalid and go on their way.  But they didn’t.  Jeoffrey, the one that shot him, got him involved in Survivalism, and he started his blog.  Things just went from bad to worse after that.

Interviewer:  So that’s when you left and went in the service?

Sean:  Pretty much.  One day Rick just looked at me and told me I didn’t have to spend so much time with him.  He was doing fine so I could get on with my life.  I was hurt.  I was very hurt, and I ran off and joined the service because I thought he didn’t want to be my friend any more

Interviewer:  He didn’t really mean it that way, I’m sure.

Sean: No, when I came home on leave he and I had a long talk.  He explained that he had been feeling guilty that I was dedicating all my time to him and didn’t really have time for my family.  He knew about Mila and Dylan and he just wanted me to go back to them.  I think that was when Rick finally grew up.

Interviewer:  So, you were in Afghanistan and Rick was..?

Sean:  Well, Rick got involved with blogging and finally began to make something of himself.  He and Jeoffrey talked all the time about prepping, and when they weren’t talking about it he was writing about it.

Interviewer:  I’ve read the series, and I don’t remember any mention of the bikers at Rick’s house when he lived next to Darrell.  Did they eventually have a falling out, too?

Sean:  They must have just drifted away when he didn’t need them any more.  Either that or he pushed them away like he did me.  You’d have to ask them about that part.

Interviewer:  How was your relationship with Mila and Dylan while you were in the service?

Sean:  Mila almost divorced me during that time.  But it was while I was over there that I finally began to understand why Rick did what he did.  And I began to think a lot about my wife and my son.  I eventually forgave Rick for doing what he did, and I started writing to Mila to get a little conversation going.

Interviewer:  A lot must have changed in those years.  Did you finally work it out with Mila?

Sean:  Mila had become a Paralegal, and Dylan was in daycare after school and in the summer.  We started talking, and I started telling her about how sorry I was that I had neglected her all those years.

Interviewer:  Did you end up patching things up with her?

Sean:  Boy, did I!  After quite a few letters back and forth we both began to understand that it was time to get our life on track.  So when I came home on leave, we patched it up and finally became a real family.  Of course Dylan had been aching to have a real father, so when that happened he was the happiest of all of us.

Interviewer:  But what about Rick?  Did you ever talk to him again?

Sean:  I tried to change things after that, but I went to see him once or twice.  We finally came to terms with why he did what he did and sent me away.  Once I understood, it made a lot of sense to me.  So we’ve been friends ever since.  We just didn’t do the same foolish things we did when we were younger.

Interviewer:  Well Sean, it’s time for us to go.  Do you have anything else you want to tell our readers?

Sean:  Just one thing.  Life is precious. I’ve learned that from quite a few angles.  In Afghanistan, I saw how little value was placed on human life, and it hurt.  With Rick, when he was shot, it really hit home hard.  And with my family…just let me say that now I know what I could have been missing out on, and it makes me value what I have with my family even more.  Always treat your family right and you’ll never regret it.

Interviewer:  Ok Ladies and Gentlemen, there you have it.  Sean, thanks so much for being with us.  I’m sure this interview will help our readers by giving them more insight into who you are.

Sean:  Thanks for having me here.
